Dead newborn found on Staten Island, mother arrested

A woman has been arrested after the body of a newborn was found in a garbage bag on Staten Island, New York 1 reported.

NYPD officers made the grisly discovery Saturday morning around 11:30 a.m. on Richmond Hill Road in the New Springville neighborhood of the borough.

Multiple news outlets, including NBC, reported that officers found the baby “unconscious” and that the cause of death is undetermined.

The mother, identified as Nausheen Rahman, 28, was arrested at Staten Island University Hospital North and charged with concealment of a corpse.
