Somewhere, Buzz Bissinger is shopping for ass-less chaps with Bruce Jenner, shouting, “See, I told yaso, Mama!”

Deadspin.com made a whoopsy on Wednesday, publishing an article under its “news” section that claimed 3-on-3 basketball was coming to the Summer Olympics, as early as 2016 in Rio.

Blogger Kyle Wagner wrote:

“The IOC has officially added a new half-court 3-on-3 basketball event to the competitions to be held in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. This rules.

Right away, you’ll have to throw a big bucket of calm down on your head because, as the IOC put it in a 2012 letter discussing its interest in 3-on-3, a large part of the impetus is to focus more on the amateurism of sports and get the event away from being “‘somewhat of an exhibition for the American NBA.'”

Wagner cited the story from The Betoota Advocate, a parody site that doesn’t entirely look like a parody site. The main story on the site Wednesday was the 3-on-3 basketball story, owning the headline, “IOC confirms 3-on-3 basketball to be trialled at 2016 Rio Olympics. (Note: “trialled” is not a word)

In Wagner’s defense, some of the stories on the site are not too far fetched. Below the hoops post was the topicalhed of “Nip Slip! Jennifer Lopez’s ‘wardrope malfunction’ ignites social media firestorm, thousands burn to death in Nigeria” and “Bionic Shark: Greg Norman returns to golf with prosthetic arm.”

Wagner wrote the following retraction: Update: Nah, this isn’t happening. I wrote a post based on a satire website, which is just about the dumbest way to fuck up. Sorry. F*** me. Woulda been cool though. Original post below.
