Lower Manhattan’s nascent food hall scene is heating up, with word that Eataly’s outpost in 4 World Trade Center is out of limbo.

Mario Batali’s one-stop Italian food theme park will open before Christmas, according to the New York Post. The hold-up involved the Port Authority and handover of the space to Westfield, which controls retail leasing.

When the Postchecked in on the project in April, an Eataly rep had said “construction hasn’t begun,” so for them to pull together all 41,000 square feet before the holidays will be a feat to rival Santa Claus’ journey. But if they succeed, it means fresh pasta and wedges of Grana Padano for all the good girls and boys downtown. Godspeed, Mario.
