Poets among us: New York City is full of inspiration. And now is the chance to tweet us what you got.

The mayor’s office and New York City Department of Cultural Affairs are holding their annual “PoetweetNYC” contest in honor of National Poetry Month.

The winning poem, to be selected by the mayor’s office, will be printed in Metro New York on April 30, which is “Poem in Your Pocket Day.” The annual event encourages New Yorkers to carry an original or borrowed poem and share with family, friends and co-workers throughout their travels.

Original poems -- keep the content clean and limited to one tweet -- should be tweeted to #PoetweetNYC by April 13 for consideration.
