‘Hamilton Mixtape’ live shows are coming

The only show tougher to see than “Hamilton” could be the upcoming star-studded concerts of its soundtrack.

In the works since late last year, the “Hamilton Mixtape” is a genre-defying tribute album to the show’s soundtrack with covers by artists including Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, Sia, Usher, Common and many more (the show has 46 songs, after all). Entertainment Weekly got some new details about the project from The Roots’ Tariq Trotter, who took on no less than Alexander Hamilton’s fight song, “My Shot.”

There’s no release date yet for the album, but Trotter did hint that despite the in-demand starpower involved, they will have live performances of the album. “I can’t say when or where,” he tells EW. “But you can expect ‘Hamilton Mixtape’ performances probably sooner than later.”

Until then, check out this week’s final live #Ham4Ham preshow performance, in which Renee Elise Goldsberry, another original cast member who’s leaving the show on Sept. 6, sings “Congratulations,” a song cut before “Hamilton” got to Broadway.
