On Tuesday night, an East Harlem subway face slashing became the second such attack within 48 hours.

The victim, a 32-year-old man, was waiting for a Brooklyn-bound 6 train at the 116th Street station just after 9:30 p.m., police said to the New York Daily News. A man approached the victim as he waited and cut his face before fleeing.

The injured rider got himself to the hospital, where he received stitches, Pix 11 reported. At the hospital, the victim did not cooperate with authorities, a police source said to the Daily News.

The attack appears to be unprovoked, Pix 11 added, also stating that the investigation is ongoing.
