I remember my first experience in a cramped New York City bathroom. During college, I was crashing at a friend’s place in Manhattan and couldn’t believe she shared the closet-like space with her three-member family. My childhood bathroom was bigger and just for me, but, hey, it was in the suburbs, not the Village.

Eventually, after years of sharing bathrooms, a good friend with an even smaller West Village bathroom, and a bathroom with a running toilet and tiles coming off the floor, I’ve come to except the less-than-perfect NYC water closet.

But for the right price perfection can be found in these six dream bathrooms from around the city.

Baccarat Hotel & Residences New York

What does a $60 million duplex penthouse get you? A guaranteed dream bathroom that is the size of most studio apartments.

Residents at this 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue building have complete access to the amenities of the flagship Baccarat Hotel. Part of this five-bedroom, five bathroom home’s amenities include a marble bathroom of almost 400 square feet.

The master bathroom features white marble slab floors and walls, radiant heated floors, and a freestanding soaking tub. Second bathrooms have Siberian polished marble, and the powder room features frosted, mirrored glass panel walls, and marble floors. Custom polished chrome fixtures are featured throughout the bathrooms.

20 East End Avenue

This new luxury condo building at 80th Street and East End Avenue features two- to six-bedroom apartments, as well as duplex townhouses, and penthouses — ranging from $4.5 to $35 million.

Though many residences feature a direct elevator entrance — the real pièce de résistance is the master bathroom with Caldia Classico marble flooring and wainscoting. There are also double sinks, a custom milk glass vanity, Caldia Classico marble countertop, and ribbed glass shower.

Finally, many residences offer river and city views from the cast-iron bathtub.

25 Prince St.

“Enter this elegant triplex penthouse and experience what it means to live well in New York,” the listing for this SoHo home begins. Nothing says living well like a luxurious bathroom.

This three bedroom, two-and-a-half bath unit is currently listed for $2,750,000, and features a master suite on the top floor. That suite includes “a spa-lover’s dream.” The five-piece bathroom is done in full-slab marble with Water Works fixtures, and has a soaking tub, glass-walled shower and double sinks.

17 East 12th St.

This state-of-the-art Greenwich Village apartment — listed for  $8,975,000 — has features that include automatic window shades, automatic touch control cabinetry and a custom coffee system.

The modern features continue into the master bedroom, which has two private dressing rooms and two windowed Italian travertine master bathrooms. The bathrooms also feature heated floors and towel racks, walk-in steam shower, spa bench and soaking tubs.

175 West 10th St.

This full-floor apartment, within a boutique condominium building, features three bedrooms and three-and-a-half-baths in 2,702 square feet.

Listed for $7 million, the home's five-piece master bath was “designed to offer serene, spa-like experiences.” Those details include Calacatta Creme marble walls, and a soaking tub and glass enclosed shower. There is also a customized double vanity and pendant lighting.

The guest baths and powder room also didn’t skimp on luxury details, featuring fixtures from Waterworks, custom vanities and tile, and imported marble flooring.

17 Madison St.

This Bed-Stuy/Clinton Hill bathroom is located in an owner's triplex over a garden rental. Listed for $2,750,000, the home’s top floor has a “massive” master suite with a large walk-in closet and master bath.

There is not only a gas fireplace in the suite’s separate sitting area, but also a decorative one in the bathroom. The bathroom also features a double-vanity sink and a freestanding tub set beneath two windows overlooking the back garden. The rainfall shower is a “secluded, curved inlet off of the main room with tiling from Bisazza and radiant heat flooring.” The entire master suite has Brazilian walnut flooring throughout and independently zoned central AC.
