Long snapper could be an area that the New York Jets address this offseason as it appears that one undrafted free agent might be targeted by the franchise.

Gage Marsil, a former long snapper at Central Florida, has generated some interest among Jets management a source close to the situation tells Metro and could be an undrafted free agent signing. Since 2010 the Jets long snapper has been Tanner Purdum, who has played in 112 consecutive games for the franchise and has never missed a game.

Marsil played three years at Central Florida and was a steady long snapper for the Knights. He was the starting long snapper in all 12 games, his junior season and all 13 games last year as a senior.

Purdum is an unrestricted free agent this year. Last year he made $800,000 as the Jets long snapper, an improvement over the $745,000 earned in 2015. He has been steady for the Jets and has a good relationship with kicker Nick Folk, who was released by the team late last month. Before signing with the Jets in 2010 Purdum was with the Kansas City Chiefs.

At 6-foot-2 inches and 245 pounds, Marsil has an impressive 15 career tackles on special teams for Central Florida.
