The new head coach of the New York Knicks will not be David Blatt, or Kurt Rambis. Luke Walton already accepted the Lakers job. Phil Jackson is permanently retired from the bench.
In a somewhat surprising move, the Knicks will hire former Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek as their new head man. As stunning as the move is - Hornacek's name was not mentioned all too often when it came to the New York vacancy - it will likely be hailed by most as a strong hire.
In Hornacek's first two seasons in Phoenix his teams went 48-34 and 39-43. Both of those teams were of the overachieving nature. The 53-year-old fell out of favor with Phoenix management this past season though when the Suns got out to a 14-35 start.
Hornacek played 14 years in the NBA, starring as a 2-guard with the Suns, 76ers and Jazz.
