Lululemon opens first NYC lab

Typically, we don’t ever see where our clothes come from and how they are made. Not so with the new Lululemon Lab, which opened this week at 50 Bond St. Here, customers can shop in the front, while peaking into the designer’s space in the back, where clothes are literally being designed and made.

Unlike the Lululemon stores you’re probably used to, the Lululemon Lab has a heavier emphasis on transitional pieces that are work appropriate. While at the Lululemon stores, you will see walls of brightly colored activewear, at the Lab, the pieces are more structured, and the color-scheme is primarily black and gray.

This is only Lululemon’s second Lab. The other one is in Vancouver, Canada. The Labs work as a place to test out new products. Many of the products on the floor are only available at that location, but if they become crazy popular, you might see them in stores across the country down the road.
