A man threatened New Yorkers at a Bronx laundromat near midnight on Friday after he brandished a large machete as he busted a lock to steal the business’s cash.

Cops released surveillance video of the caper, in which a man identified as Jose Arguilar can be seen walking up to the unmanned counter inside the laundromat on Southern Boulevard with the machete in his hand.

The suspect never let go of the blade, even as he struggled to pull open a locked cabinet that contained the laundromat’s supply of cash. Video shows Arguilar using the machete to pry open the cabinet door, pulling the who cabinet with it.

When a person standing near by can be seen approaching the armed robber, Arguilar waveed the machete at the person. The door lock eventually broke and sent Arguilar into piles of laundry behind him.

Investigators said Arguilar made off with the cash and walked away from the laundromat on foot. No one was injured, police added, and it was unclear how much cash Arguilar took from the scene.

Authorities described Arguilar 5-feet-11-inches tall and weighing 200 pounds, partially-bald and with brown eyes.

Police ask that anyone with information about Arguilar or the robbery to confidentially call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or text their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
