For some people, looking like a celebrity is a good thing, but for one man looking like actor Shia LaBeouf left him with a black eye and a ton of questions.

Mario Licato, 26, was on his way to meet some friends on Saturday night at about 8:30 p.m. when he was punched in the face because he resembled the actor, according to PIX11 New York.

Licato was on the stairwell of the Delancey Street station when he was attacked by the random man who allegedly shouted “this is because you look like Shia LaBeouf” right before running away, PIX11 reported.

“I didn’t even see the guy,” Licato told Gothamist. “I just see his fist coming towards me.”

After being knocked out, Licato got help from a couple who heard the attacker and asked if he knew the guy who had just punched him, Gothamist reported. Licato described the man to be in his mid-20s, muscular and between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches tall.

The couple helped call 911 and emergency personnel treated Licato at the scene. Police are currently looking for the alleged attacker.

The 26-year-old posted a photo of his injuries on Instagram and jokingly thanked the attacker.

“Well sir you boosted my self esteem bc he’s p hot,” Licato wrote.

The art director said that he has been told many times before that he resembled LaBeouf, according to Gothamist, but this incident has left him with a few questions.

“I wanna know what Shia LaBeouf did to him,” he said. “What did Shia LaBeouf do to him that he punched somebody that looks like him? He must have did something so mean. Did he steal his girlfriend? Did he just see his last performance art piece?”
