Police are determining whether a 74-year-old man found Sunday afternoon under a Bronx overpass froze to death in the extreme winter weather.

Police found the deceased man near a bus depot at East 177th Street and Devoe Avenue in West Farms, sources said to the New York Daily News, which added that the body showed a visible head injury.

The discovery came on the same weekend as a mandatory Code Blue –an order opening all New York shelters to the homeless, regardless of capacity, during dangerously cold weather, Gothamist reported in a related article, adding that the weekend’s weather has not been officially blamed for any deaths.

The body found in the Bronx, though, could change that as officials are now investigating whether the man slipped and hit his head, knocking himself unconscious and possibly freezing, according to the Daily News.

Police do not suspect that foul play was involved in his death, the Daily News added.
