A man sexually abused an 8-year-old girl as she walked into her Bronx apartment building over the weekend, police said Wednesday.
Cops are on the hunt for the girl's attacker, who investigators said followed behind her as she stepped into her building around the Fordham Heights area at about 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 24.
The unidentified man forced his arms around her mouth and immobilized her, police said, before he molested her.
That's when investigators said the girl started to scream, forcing the suspect to run away from the building.
Cops arrived at the scene not long after the attack, and the girl was taken to an area hospital where she was treated and released.
NYPD released video surveillance taken from the neighborhood that showed the suspect walking down a city block.
Described as a clean-shaven, light-skinned Hispanic man approximately 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighing about 165 pounds, the suspect was last seen wearing a dark, fitted baseball cap, a gray-hooded sweater, red T-shirt and gray sneakers.
Cops ask that anyone with information in about the suspect anonymously call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or text tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website or texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
