MAP: NYC weekend street closures, September 25 – 27

Pope Francis may be leaving New York City to visit Philadelphia, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be streets closures this weekend for other events happening around town.

The United Nations Genral Assembly will continue to have several streets closed in the city along with normal weekend festivals, parades and events.

Plan ahead and know before you go.

The following streets will be closed this weekend:

Friday, September 25 through October 3, 2015

UN General Assembly

  • Area bounded by East 60th Street on the North, East 34th Street on the South, 1st Avenue on the East, 3rd Avenue on the West, – all inclusive
  • Area bounded by East 51st Street on the North, East 48th Street on the South; 1st Avenue on the East; Madison Avenue on the West, – ll inclusive
  • 34th Street between FDR Drive and 7th Avenue
  • 42nd Street between FDR Drive and 7th Avenue
  • 50th Street between FDR Drive and 7th Avenue
  • 57th Street between FDR Drive and 7th Avenue
  • 48th Street between 1st Avenue and FDR Drive Service Road
  • 49th Street between 1st Avenue and FDR Drive Service Road
  • FDR Drive Service Road between 48th Street and 49th Street
  • 51st Street between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue
  • 56th Street between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue
  • 52nd Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue

Manhtattan:8th Avenue between 14th Street and 23rd Streetwill be closed Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm for the Chelsea Midtown Democrats-8th Avenue Festival.

Broadway between 47th Street and 55th Street will be closed Saturday from 6 pm to 7 pm for the Best of France.

Broadway between 110th Street and 116th Streetwill be closed Saturday from 12:00 pm Noon to 5 pm for the 22nd Annual Upper Broadway Autumn Festival.

The following streets will be closed Saturday from 7 am to 6 pm for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run:

Brooklyn:

  • Richards Street between King Street and Bowne Street/Hamilton Avenue
  • Bowne Street between Richards Street and Hamilton Avenue
  • Dwight Street between King Street and Commerce Street/Columbia Street
  • Hamilton Avenue between Henry Street and the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel (Woodhull Street)
  • Verona Street between Dwight Street and Hamilton Avenue
  • Columbia Street between Delevan Street and Hamilton Avenue
  • Vesey Street between West Street and North End Avenue
  • North End Avenue between Vesey Street and Murray Street

Manhattan:

  • Battery Park Underpass
  • West Street between Battery Place and Warren Street
  • West Thames Street between West Street and Dead End (Battery Park Esplanade)
  • South End Avenue between West Thames Street and Liberty Street
  • Liberty Street between West Street and Battery Park Esplanade
  • Murray Street between North End Avenue and West Street
  • North End Avenue between Warren Street and Vesey Street

Festival:

  • Vesey Street between West Street and River Terrace
  • River Terrace between Warren Street and Vesey Street

In Brooklyn, Havemeyer Street between South 4th Street and Grand Street
will be closed Saturday from 1 pm to 6 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Southside Connex.

In Queens,Skillman Avenue between 45th Street and 51st Street will be closed Saturday from 4 pm to 8 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks the Skillman Project.

The following streets will be closed Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm for the Stone Street Oyster Festival:

  • Stone Street between Hanover Square and Coenties Alley
  • Hanover Square between William Street and Pearl Street
  • Mill Lane between South William Street and Stone Street

SixthAvenue between 42nd Street and 56th Streetwill be closed Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm for the Big Apple Performing Arts and Innovative Community Festival.

Queens:37th Avenue between 83rd Street and 90th Street will be closed Saturday from 12:00 pm Noon to 6 pm for the Jackson Heights Kiwanis Club 37th Avenue Festival.

Sunday

ThirdAvenue between 14th Street and 23rd Street will be closed in Manhattanfrom 11 am to 6 pm for the Seafarers International House Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church Fair.

Atlantic Avenue between Hicks Street and 4th Avenue in Brooklyn will be closed Sunday from 12:00 pm Noon to 6 pm for the Atlantic Antic event.

The following streets will be closed Sunday from 8 am to 10 am for the NYRR Bronx 10 Mile Run:

  • Grand Concourse between East 161st Street and Mosholu Parkway
  • Mosholu Parkway between Paul Avenue and Bainbridge Avenue
  • Paul Avenue between Mosholu Parkway and Bedford Park Boulevard
  • Bedford Park Boulevard between Paul Avenue and Goulden Avenue
  • Goulden Avenue between Bedford Park Boulevard and West 205th Street
  • West 205th Street between Goulden Avenue and Paul Avenue

Crossbay Boulevard between 157th Avenue and 165th Avenue in Queens will be closed Sunday from 12:00 pm Noon to 4 pm for the Howard Beach Columbus Day.

Shore Boulevard between Astoria Park South and Ditmars Boulevard in Queens will be closed Sunday from 1 pm to 7 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Astoria Park Shore Fest.
