PHOTOS: New York City Pride Parade 2016 highlights

New York City was filled with color and pride on Sunday.

Thousands of people participated and watched the 46th annual Gay Pride March in New York City.

The parade route began at 36th Street and Fifth Avenue and made its way to the West Village at Stonewall Inn. Thousands of revelers took to the streets waving rainbow flags and celebrating gay pride.

During the parade/march people honored the lives of the 49 victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting. There was added police presence at the parade for added safety.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife Chirlane McCray attended the parade and greeted LGBTQ supporters.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made an unannounced appearance at the parade and waved at crowds of cheering supporters.
