Contrary to reports and speculation, Fredrik Gulbrandsen is indeed on a season-long loan with the New York Red Bulls.

Gulbrandsen, a Norwegian international who is on loan from sister club Red Bull Salzburg, was linked to alleged comments in a recent interview that he had an option to leave New York this summer. Not so says his new club.

The loan is for the full MLS season and does not include an out for the player to leave this summer to return to Salzburg, so says a team spokesman to Metro.

On Saturday, Gulbrandsen came on late in the second half to make his New York debut. Yesterday, head coach Jesse Marsch intimated that Gulbrandsen could start as early as this weekend.
