NYC museums visit each other for #MuseumInstaSwap challenge

What would the Met find Insta-worthy about the Queens Museum? Or if the Jewish Museum were to take a trip to the Studio Museum in Harlem, what would interest it there?

This was the inspiration for a new Instagram project, #MuseumInstaSwap, that debuts today across 18 different cultural institutions in the city. The museums exchanged small delegations tasked with finding fascinating and unlikely connections between their exhibits.

The results will be posted across the museums’ Instagram accounts over the course of today to give New Yorkers new reasons to return to their favorite institutions, or discover a cultural gem they may have been overlooking.

• American Museum of Natural History and The Museum of Modern Art

• Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum

• Museum of the City of New York and The New Museum

• The Museum of Arts and Design and The Whitney Museum of American Art

• The Frick Collection and New-York Historical Society

• Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts and Neue Galerie

• Queens Museum and The Metropolitan Museum of Art

• Guggenheim Museum and Liberty Science Center

• The Studio Museum in Harlem and The Jewish Museum

Tomorrow we are joining forces with 17 major institutions in and around NYC to participate in @Instagram’s Museum Swap! Each museum is paired with a partner institution, and we are excited to explore Liberty Science Center (@libertysciencecenter), an interactive learning center dedicated to science and technology.
