Suspect used spare key in Brooklyn home invasion rape and robbery: Report

Police are looking for a man in connection to a robbery and rape in Brooklyn after he reportedly used a spare key to enter the home of a sleeping resident.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, a 29-year-old woman asleep at her home near the corner of DeKalb and Wilson avenues in Bushwick awoke when she heard her door being opened, police reported. A man had entered her home. According to the New York Post, the suspect used an extra key hidden outside the front door to get inside.

Displaying a silver firearm, the man approached the woman and raped her before removing some of the victim’s personal items, police added. He then fled the location in an unknown direction.

The victim was taken to Woodhull Hospital where she was treated and released, authorities stated. The suspect remains at large.

Police described the man as black, approximately 34 years old, about 6-foot-1 and around 195 pounds.
