Omer Damari is heading to the New York Red Bulls a league source tells Metro New York, adding a much-needed bit of firepower to last year’s Supporters Shield winning side.

Currently on the books of sister-club Red Bull Leipzig, Damari is a striker who is a regular with the Israeli national team. The 27-year old has 20 appearances and nine goals for the national team; he spent last season on loan at Red Bull Salzburg.

He will join Austrian international Daniel Royer, a winger, who Red Bull is close to acquiring in a deal with Danish club Midtjylland. The deal, a league source said, will be finalized and announced soon.

As for Damari, he brings some much needed punch to the lineup. He will fit into head coach Jesse Marsch’s press game and is effective inside the 18-yard box.

With Leipzig’s promotion to the top flite of Germany’s Bundesliga, Damari was going to find playing time hard to come by.
