On International Women's Day, hundreds of people gathered at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 59th Street on Wednesday to rally and march in support of “A Day Without A Woman.”
The noon rally began with speeches from activists, community leaders, and others, with the crowd, mostly composed of women, eventually walking crosstown to Columbus Circle. There, they protested against President Trump in front of Trump International Hotel and Tower, at 59th Street.
The Women’s March Organization created "A Day Without a Woman," organizing dozens of other events throughout the country on Wednesday, in honor of International Women's Day.
They encouraged women to skip work on March 8, and only support small local small businesses and women-owned business who support the movement. The idea behind the rally was to show the significant role women play in the workforce.
