New York City poets: You're running out of time to tweet us your best verse.

Poems should be squeaky clean, limited to 140 characters and tweeted to #PoetweetNYC by April 13 for consideration. The winning poem will be selected by the mayor’s office and printed in Metro New York on April 30, which is “Poem in Your Pocket Day.” The annual event encourages New Yorkers to carry an original or borrowed poem with them through their day.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has already joined in, challenging the First Lady: “Hey @Chirlane, this seems neat / A contest called "poetweet" / 140 characters for 1 poem / How's it done? I bet you can show em #PoetweetNYC.”
