Police are questioning a baby-sitter and her boyfriend after a 16-month-old boy died on Sunday in Staten Island, according to reports.

The toddler — who was identified by police as Anthony Delgado — went into cardiac arrest at about 11 p.m. in his home on Steuben Street and was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North, where he was pronounced dead, ABC reported.

A doctor at the hospital reportedly saw signs of possible trauma on the baby boy’s body.

According to the New York Daily News, sources said the child had been hit numerous times in the head, had rectal bleeding and suffered what looked like a bite or burn on his penis.

Police detained, but have not charged, a 30-year-old neighbor who was babysitting the child and her 53-year-old boyfriend, the Daily News reported.

The neighbor reportedly has 9 prior arrests and suffers from schizophrenia, while he boyfriends has 25 past arrests, the Daily News added.

The babysitter had been watching the child for two days after the boy’s mother left him on Friday, reports said. The boy’s grandmother discovered the boy unconscious and unresponsive in his crib.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
