Watch police tackle Citi Bike rider to protect Obama

The New Yorker was pushed off his vehicle and handcuffed.

An Instagram video captured the moment when several NYPD officers tackled a man unknowingly biking towards a police blockade for President Obama on Wednesday afternoon.

Police attempted to stop 59-year-old Daniel Provencio from getting in the way of the president’s motorcade before throwing him to the ground, but according to the New York Posthe didn’t respond quickly enough to their warnings.

All eyes were on the Manhattan local up until Obama’s car drove past East 50th Street and stole all the attention. Provencioand his Citi Bikeremained on the grounddetained by officers whileonlookers cheered and waved at the president’s car.

NBC news reports the biker was given a summons for disorderly conduct.

Obama was visiting New York for a fundraiser and as a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show.”
