Two power outages on Monday at Newark Liberty International Airport has led to major delays for travelers, reports said. The FAA just downgraded the level from red (more than 45 minute delays) to yellow (taxi delays of 16 to 45 minutes and/or arrivals are experiencing airborne holding delays of 16 to 45 minutes). The power first went out at the United Airlines Tower at Terminal C around 5:05 p.m. on Monday and was back on by 5:45 p.m., ABC7 New York reported. The power went out again 15 minutes later and didn’t come back on until 7:30 p.m. According to reports, the power is still on.
One passenger tweeted during the outage, “We just had to turn off the engine to refuel since we’ve idled for so long.” United Airlines replied and said the flight was “delayed due to air traffic control conditions impacting our flight operations with an 8:01 p.m. departure.” You can check on your airline’s status here.

Amateur hour at #EWR – radios are down and they are trying to manage the comms with walkie-talkies and cell phones. Huge delays #UA110
