Prom goes to the skating rink at Bryant Park’s Ice Ball

Only the sartorially superb are invited to join the best skating rink party since middle school.

Bryant Park’s Winter Carnival is back for a second year starting tonight, and with it comes the Simulacrum of Yore Society’s Ice Ball. If you have a nice suit (and, preferably, a top hat, because everything is better with a top hat) or a fancy gown, you can lace up beginning at 7 p.m. for two hours of dancing on the rink — specifically the Vienn-ice Waltz.

Not quite graceful on the ice even without a crinoline? There are plenty of other reasons to swing by the Winter Carnival:

  • Catch skating performances by no less than Adam Rippon, the new national champion in men’s figure skating, synchronized skaters The Skyliners and more.

  • Speaking of athleticism, you can take curling lessons with Brooklyn Lakeside Curling Club’s Seth Mellin and CurlNYC’s Dean Roth, or perfect your golf game on the ice.

  • To warm up, head to the Outdoor Winter Brew House (despite the name, it’s tented) for beer, mulled wine and light bites over board games, live music and two trivia hours.

  • In the mood for hot chocolate? Grab a cup inside the Bank of America Warming Lodge, where you can mug for 3-D photos

  • Though the carnival continues on Saturday, the special event that night is a silent disco from 7-10 p.m. with three DJs playing music from every decade from the ‘50s to now.
