A Queens man has been arrested on charges of assaulting an off-duty police officer earlier this week.

Queens DA Richard Brown said Tommie D. Williams, 27, of Jamaica, allegedly attacked the 42 year old officer after he accidentally bumped into Williams’ girlfriend in a Jamaica Pathmark on Monday.

Williams was waiting for the officer outside of the supermarket, and is believed to have punched him with a closed fist, knocking him to the ground, and punching him again. The officer suffered three fractures, requiring surgery.

Williams awaits arraignment on the second-degree assault and harassment charges, and faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
