The city is hoping to entice the Democratic National Convention to Brooklyn with the promise of discounted fare at local restaurants.

NYC Restaurant Week will coincide with the 2016 DNC if Brooklyn is selected as a host city, according to NYC & Company, the private nonprofit tourism and marketing agency that produces the semi-annual event.

“Brooklyn should host the 2016 convention for a lot of reasons, but I’ve got to say the opportunity to eat at some of the country’s best restaurants should be at the top of the list,”said Marty Markowitz, NYC & Company vice president of borough engagement and promotion. “New York City’s world-class cuisine will satisfy every delegate, from those watching their weight to those who have given up!”

Brooklyn was named as a finalist for the convention, with Columbus and Philadelphia, in November. A decision is expected next month.

NYC & Company also released a series of online videos on Tuesday with celebrities, Broadway stars and average New Yorkers promoting Brooklyn as the best place for the convention.
