New Yorkers should plan ahead for the rest of Thanksgiving week, as the MTA is operating on a special schedule for holiday travelers and parade-goers.

Subway and buses will run on a Sunday schedule starting Wednesday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 29.

For those attending the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the closest stations are the 1 train at 79 Street and the C train at 81 Street. There will be additional service on the 1 train and 42 Street Shuttle on Thursday morning.

Service changes are expected on the following bus routes during the parade:M4, M5, M7, M10, M20, M31, M34/34A SBS, M42, M50, M57, M66, M72, M79, M104, BxM2, Q32, QM2, QM4, QM5, QM6 and X1. Most buses will run on a regular, weekday schedule for Black Friday.

The Metro North and LIRR are running additional trains on Wednesday afternoon for riders to start the holiday week, and off-peak service.

The Staten Island Railway is offering earlier express service starting at 2:30 p.m., with one express train waiting for the ferry until 7:50 p.m. The trains will operate on a Saturday schedule on Thursday.

All lane closures on area bridges and tunnels is suspended until Monday, Nov. 30 and any emergency work will be done overnight.

There are significant street closures on Wednesday and Thursday in preparation for the parade.

Starting at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 81st Street and 77th Street from Central Park West to Columbus Avenue will be closed to vehicles. Those wishing to view the balloons being inflated can watch from the wets side of Columbus Avenue at 79th Street.

West 79th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues will close after 1 p.m. The following streets will close after 3 p.m.:West 76thStreet between Columbus and Central Park West Avenues;West 77thStreet between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues;West 78thStreet between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues;West 80thStreet between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues;West 81stStreet between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues;Central Park Transverse Road at Central Park West and West 81 St. in both directions.

After 10 p.m., 81st Street and 77th Street from Central park West to Columbus Avenue and Central Park West from 59th Street to 86th Street will be closed to traffic.

The parade takes the following route starting at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and there are numerous street closures in the surrounding area: starts at Central Park West and 77th Street, south on Central Park West to Columbus Circle, south through Columbus Circle to 59thStreet, east on 59th Street to Sixth Avenue, south on Sixth Avenue to 34th Street, west on 34th Street to Seventh Avenue.

Alternate side parking and meters are suspended on Thanksgiving Day.
