Woman fatally shot in Brooklyn Bridge Park

The NYPD is investigating after a woman was shot in the head and killed on a Brooklyn Bridge Park sidewalk.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, police arrived at Brooklyn Bridge Park after a report of a crime involving a gun, authorities reported. In the area of Joralemon and Furman streets, they found 23-year-old Michelle Marks of Brooklyn dead with a gunshot wound to her head.

Police told NBC4 that they were unsure if the shooting was tied to a robbery or if it was random.

No arrests have been made and the investigation was ongoing, according to police.
