Woman jumps to death on Grand Central Parkway

A woman apparently jumped from an elevated subway station onto the Grand Central Parkway, where she was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Around 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, a woman jumped from the Astoria Boulevard elevated train station at 31stStreet above the Grand Central Parkway, police reported.

Once she landed on the Parkway below, she was struck by an unidentified vehicle that was traveling eastbound, according to police, who added that the car did not stop after hitting her.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, where authorities were continuing to investigate the incident.
