Woman killed by train at 59th Street

A woman died Monday afternoon after she was struck by a subway train.

The woman, whose identity and age was not disclosed, was hit by a 5 train that was entering the station around 1:47 p.m., DNAinfo.com reported.

She was pronounced dead by police at the scene of the accident.

Uptown 4 and 5 trains halted regular service for several hours, with express service only resuming with some delays around 3:37 p.m.

How the accident occurred was not reported.
