A woman jogging in Queens on Sunday morning was slashed on the left thigh by a suspect who remains at large.

The victim, 19, told police she was jogging in the area of 25th Avenue between 79th and 80th streets in Jackson Heights when a man in a gray hooded jacket slashed her left thigh, ABC reported.

“That’s very shocking, very shocking,” resident Pamela Charry said in a related CBS article. “People are home by 6 p.m., kids play outside, so it’s very safe. So to hear something like that is a little scary.”

The suspect could have been jogging as well, police said to the New York Daily News. After slicing the inch-long gash into the victim’s thigh, he ran off.

The victim was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital and is in stable condition, according to CBS.
