Worker falls to death at former Domino Sugar Factory site in Brooklyn

A worker fell to his death at the site of the formerDomino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg Friday morning.

Just after 9 a.m. police found a 59-year-old man with trauma to the head at 325 Kent Ave. in Brooklyn, authorities said.EMS transported the victim, Wilfredo Enrique, toWoodhull Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

According to News 12, the Enriquefell from the sixth floor to the fourth floor of a building at the site, which will reportedly include offices, park space and affordable housing.

Two Trees Management Co., the project developer, said in a statment that Enriquewas installing a facade at the site when he fell and was killed.

“We are overwhelmed with grief by this tragic accident and extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and colleagues. All work has stopped on the site and we are working closely with the city to determine the cause of the accident,” the statement read.

Employees at the site told DNAinfo that their fellow worker was wearing a harness, but that itwasn’t secured.

“He was not tied in. He had a harness on, but was not tied in,” said Cristiam Benitez.

The Department of Bulidings is investigating.
