In a scene straight out of "Home Alone," a 9-year-old boy from Minneapolis boarded an airplane at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport and took a trip to Las Vegas, reports KARE.
The boy managed to pass through three levels of security at the airport on Thursday: the TSA, the gate agents and the flight crew. Yet, after reviewing the security footage, airport officials admitted that it appeared the boy did not have a boarding pass. He boarded Delta Flight 1651 and made it halfway to Las Vegas before flight attendants realized he was not on the unattended minors list, reports CBS Minnesota.
When police went to his parents' home, they said they "hadn't seen much of him today," and his family said they believed he ran away, according to CBS. Airport officials told KARE that the boy was at the airport on Wednesday, as well, when he took a stranger's bag, ordered food at a restaurant and left the bag while he "went to the bathroom." He did not return to pay for his meal.
An airport spokesperson told KARE that Las Vegas police, Hennepin County police and the boy's parents are working together to bring him back to the Twin Cities. A TSA spokesperson also told CBS that the agency has been understaffed because of the government shutdown.
