The temperatures have dipped so it’s nice to be ensconced in petit Paris. Or at least that’s what it feels like here at Steak Frites Bistro. The bright space is inviting and the Parisian music adds to the little getaway feel.

Both lunch and dinner menus are available and boast exciting choices such as seafood, escargot, omelette, tripe and Steak Tartare.

I start with the Soup of the Day ($6.95) – a thin, peppery chickpea broth dotted with carrots and green beans. The meat platter, or Cochonailles as it’s called ($14.95) arrives next. An assortment of fine smoked ham, spicy salami, garlic sausage, pate and rillette (similar to pate, but richer and creamier) brings the picnic indoors. The server spoons Dijon mustard from a crock and loads gerkins from a jar onto my plate. Merci!

If you want a reprieve from the city hustle, this where you want to be.
