Amal Clooney urges UN to fight ISIS genocide, but OMG her baby bump!

Instead of focusing on Clooney’s powerful speech, her baby bump, dress and, yes, husband were what made headlines.

From red carpets to the United Nations, it’s a women’s struggle as old as time: What she’s wearing is far more important than what she’s saying or doing.

And heaven forbid she, at the same time, be carrying the twin offspring of George Clooney, one of the most famous men in the world.

Such is the life of Amal Clooney, an acclaimed international human rights lawyer who on Thursday urged the U.N. to support an investigation into the Islamic State’s crimes in Iraq.

“ISIS should be held accountable in a court of law for its crimes. What is needed now is moral leadership to make it happen,” Clooney said. “Don’t let this be another Rwanda, where you regret doing too little, too late. Don’t let ISIS get away with genocide.”

Alongside Clooney was, spoiler!, not her husband, but client Nadia Murad, a 21-year-old Yazidi woman who was raped and enslaved by the Islamic State in Iraq.

“ISIS militants have even sent messages to Nadia from their phones, taunting her that they still have her family members in captivity,” Clooney said. “They don’t bother to hide their phone number when they do so —they know no one is looking for it.”

It’s a story that should be gripping the world, but instead there are headlines like “Amal Clooney shows off her baby bump at the United Nations,” “Amal Clooney Stuns in Yellow While Delivering Passionate Speech at United Nations,” “Amal Clooney is a vision in yellow as she shows off hint of baby bump in chic dress” and “Amal Clooney displays blossoming baby bump in bright yellow frock as she heads to work.”

As. She. Heads. To. Work. The day after International Women’s Day no less. Why oh why should she care about what she calls "vengeful violence" in Iraq?

Shouldn't she just be content to have it all in her gorgeous yellow dress and go home to her handsome and famous longtime bachelor who finally put a ring on it and their two bundles of joy on the way?
