The daughter or superstar singer Annie Lennox has poured her heart out in an Instagram tribute to her boyfriend, who drowned in the Hudson River after the kayak the East Village couple was in capsizsed, Ian Jones’ body was pulled from the river Monday afternoon, near the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club, about three miles south of the spot in Staatsburgh, in Dutchess County, where he and Lennox took to the water Saturday. Officials said neither had life vests on and also said the two had been drinking alcohol before getting into the kayak in the early morning hours.

On Instagram late Monday, Lennox posted a heartbreaking tribute to Jones.
“My heart is shattered. My best friend, my soul mate, my partner in crime & creativity, the LOVE & LIGHT of my life is no longer with me,” she wrote.
“All the love that has been sent to me is giving me the strength to get through this. I know that he is so so happy that I was safely rescued. Let us honor & celebrate this beautiful soul & keep following the light.” Lennox spent 20 minutes in the Hudson before a passing boat rescured her. Jones was swept away by the current.
The search by state and Dutchess County, New York officials involved dive teams, marine patrols, cops on the shoreline, and a New York State Police helicopter.
