Another bear spotted in Bedford

There has been another bear sighting in Bedford.

A day after a mother bear and what is believed to her baby were seen walking separately on several different streets around Southgate Drive, Halifax Regional Police say they received another call of a bear sighting yesterday in the area of Bedford South School on nearby Oceanview Drive.

The call came in at 4 p.m. Police say it appears to be a smaller bear than the ones from Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, police first responded to a report of a bear in the neighbourhood of Southgate Drive just after the noon hour. In responding to the call, police say five more calls came in from residents about two bears in the area, including one that looked to be a baby.

Police say the baby bear sightings were on Wyat and Morris Mill roads, while the larger bear was last seen heading into the woods on Lake Drive.

Police and the province’s Department of Natural Resources patrolled the wooded area.
