Police are investigating the horrifying discovery after the severed head of a cat was found on a doorstep in the northeast.
The Arson Unit detective was doing a follow up interview regarding a suspicious fire in the 7100 block of Temple Drive NE Monday morning when he found the head.
It is not known how long the head was there.
The three-year-old cat named Bell was identified by a tattoo inside its ear.
The owners of the cat live nearby and were notified of the discovery.
Police believe this was not an act of a natural predator but was intentionally severed.
