Carleton to host $5M computer security project

Carleton University will host a new $5-million network of computer specialists to enhance Canada’s security.

Each year over the next five years, NSERC will give the Internetworked Systems Security network $1 million to promote Canadian-based research and development in the area of Internet security.

“Virtually all vital government and industrial computer and information networks … are vulnerable to attacks,” said Dr. Paul Van Oorschot, the project’s scientific director.

“Our new network will bring together some of the best minds in the country to determine innovative ways to address these attacks.”
