Chicago evens series

Canucks 1 Blackhawks 2 (OT)

The Skinny: Maple Ridge’s Andrew Ladd tipped David Bolland’s shot past Roberto Luongo at 2:52 of overtime to give the Blackhawks a comeback win over the Canucks. The Canucks were less than three minutes away from taking a 3-1 series lead, but Martin Havlat’s fourth goal of the playoffs forced the extra session. Darcy Hordichuk replied for the Canucks with his first career playoff goal.

The save: Alex Burrows fired a one-timer from point-blank range 30 seconds prior to Ladd’s winner, only to be thwarted by the left pad of Nicolai Khabibulin.

The mistake: Willie Mitchell failed to clear a loose puck late in the third and the ill-timed turnover resulted in Havlat’s tying goal.

The captain: Despite the loss, Luongo turned in his most dominant performance of the series. A number of his 26 saves on the night were of the spectacular variety.

The rating: It won’t go down as a classic, but it was more entertaining than the shot totals would indicate. Four out of five stars.
