Cold, hard science at new Science and Tech Museum exhibit

The Canada Science and Technology Museum’s latest exhibit, Echoes in the Ice, compares science and technology then and now.

A big focus of the exhibit is the historic collection of images, artifacts, and stories of the explorers who searched for the Northwest Passage in 1845. The entire crew of the Franklin Expedition vanished in the Arctic during their attempt to find the Passage.

Museum spokesperson Kelly Ray said visitors to the exhibit will really enjoy seeing the ancient technology and imagining the struggle the explorers went through as they searched for the Passage.

“The stories of these explorers help define the history of the Arctic,” said artist Rik van Glintenkamp, whose works are featured in the exhibit.

Echoes in the Ice runs at the museum until March 20 and then makes its way across Canada.
