Cruise, booze and great music

“I’m on a boat!”

Thanks to “Saturday Night Live,” it’s practically become the catchphrase of the year. Well, even more fun than saying that would be enjoying a raging, beer-soaked mosh pit while your favorite band performs on a cruise boat, or attending a pre-party while floating your way to a Mets game or a Dave Matthews Band concert.

Rocks Off Concert Cruises has been hosting these events on the Hudson and East rivers since 2001, and this summer will be full of great cruise opportunities on their boats.

Founder Jake Szufnarowski said he’s excited about an upcoming Rocks Off birthday celebration in July for Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg, and much more that is to come, including a Cro-Mags show on August 11th.

“Nobody’s ever jumped out of the balcony in the Temptress onto the dance floor, so I’m sort of expecting that during the Cro-mags show,” he said.

“Fishbone plays every year, and Angelo usually ends up hanging upside-down from the railing in the balcony by his legs and singing half a song. And that’s pretty cool, but I wanna see someone jump over the balcony into the dance floor.”

When Szufnarowski set up his first cruise in 2001, it was a huge success and Rocks Off had six cruises that year — now they have over 200.

So if you want to party it up in nautical style, check out some of their summer concert series. Or if you’re really feeling fancy, set up your own private event —their boats range in capacity from 50 to 500.
