Cruise ship staffer gets 120 days in jail

A crewmember aboard the Queen Mary II found in possession of childpornography while his ship was docked in Halifax has been sentenced to120 days in jail, The Canada Border Services Agency said.

A crewmember aboard the Queen Mary II found in possession of child pornography while his ship was docked in Halifax has been sentenced to 120 days in jail, The Canada Border Services Agency said.

Edward Mangubat, a foreign national, was arrested on Sept. 7 and pleaded guilty on Thursday at Halifax provincial court.

In an unrelated case, the CBSA says another foreign national, Nyoman Putra, was sentenced to 30 days in jail for smuggling child pornography.

Putra was a crewmember aboard Carnival Glory that was docked in Halifax.

Both will be removed from Canada once their jail time is complete.
