Debate about bike lanes heating up

If you travelled green today, Toronto architect Babak Eslahjou thinks you deserve a reward.

If you are a cyclist, you deserve better than a terrifying squeeze into a leftover lane of traffic. If you ride transit, you deserve the speed and reliability of a subway, says the partner in CORE Architects. He focuses on sustainable planning.

“We give transit priority, which allows the TTC to annex large sections of our streets. The cars and pedestrians and bicycles take up the rest. What ends up happening is that other green forms of transportation — bikes, skateboards and rollerblades — end up stealing the in-between spaces.”
