In “Armored,” Matt Dillon plays an armored truck driver who hatches a plot with his co-workers to rob their employers. But when the plan goes horribly wrong, the results are potentially deadly. Dillon says he doesn’t let the heavy nature of the consequences get him down.
In the film you play a very manipulative guy.
That’s what I like about the character.
When you play someone who’s morally corrupt, does it leak into your personal life?
There are some days you show up on the set and you have to do things you don’t like. For example, in “Crash” I had to do something I kind of was disgusted by. Even though you’re playing a character, there’s a personal element to it. … But while I’m doing it, I know I’m playing a character. I never get lost, like irretrievably.
You seem to have a good rapport with your castmates. Did you hang out together after the cameras stopped rolling?
We were working some long hours but yeah, we would go out. Certainly on the set we had a good time. I can honestly say it was one of the best casts I’ve worked with.
