Fans react to Peas, Weezer show

Kathy Purcell left Saturday’s Black Eyed Peas show feeling the same way she did after seeing Paul McCartney perform on the Halifax Common just last year.

Completely different musical styles — but a “wonderful” time was had.

“It was fantastic,” Purcell said after the Black Eyed Peas ended their performance to thundering applause. “Energetic. They had everyone up dancing.”

From the very young to the not-too-old, everyone on the North Common site seemed to be digging the Peas — and got completely involved with their up-tempo, techno-style music.

Many waved their hands, swaying their arms in time with the heavy beat. Others made a spot in the crowd their personal dance-floor space.

“It was awesome,” said Angela Martin, who is from Lunenburg. “I just wish I could’ve gotten closer (to the stage).”

Many were also singing the praises of Weezer, which delivered a set that saw frontman Rivers Cuomo spend as much time performing in the crowd as he did on stage.

“I left more impressed with Weezer,” said Steve Crane, who was visiting from England. “Thought they were just a little more together.”
