Fifth candidate expected to file papers for Knoxdale-Merivale council seat

A fifth candidate is jumping into the race for the Knoxdale-Merivale council seat.

James O’Grady is expected to file his papers on Wednesday morning.

O’Grady, 43, is working as a schoolteacher with the Upper Canada and Ottawa District School Boards. He also works as a communications specialist and is the vice-president and membership coordinator for the Trend-Arlington Community Association.

Incumbent Gord Hunter has announced he would not run again. James Dean, Keith Egli, Jules Ruhinda, Rod Vanier are already registered.

In Rideau-Vanier Ward, André Brazeau, a law student at the University of Ottawa has registered. Incumbent Georges Bedard has not yet registered, but he’s still got plenty of time.

Election Day is Oct. 25.
