Working smoke alarms are being credited for saving the lives of four people after a fire broke out at a home on Prince of Wales Drive Friday.

Working smoke alarms are being credited for saving the lives of four people after a fire broke out at a home on Prince of Wales Drive Friday.

Firefighters said a fire, which started in the basement, set off the smoke detectors. The family escaped unharmed, but there was extensive fire damage to the basement and the main floor of the dwelling, and heavy smoke damage throughout the home.

The fire caused over $300,000 in damages.
